In these incredibly tough current market conditions, the importance of candidate experience on careers sites can’t be overstated. It’s imperative that candidates can find roles, information about the company and apply easily or face losing them to the vast amount of competition.
Bailie group has a complex business structure. The 6 smaller businesses that make up the group operate across a broad range of exciting functions ranging from cyber security to UX Design. Despite being blessed with exciting roles, navigating through this varied information was complicated and confusing for candidates to understand on their current careers site.
The goal from Bailie Group was to create an innovative site with clear information architecture making this information easy to understand and help guide the user through the site to application.

The first challenge we encountered was re-imagining their corporate brand guidelines into something more visually exciting that would appeal to their creative audience. To achieve this, we came to the table with an idea which used the colours from the 6 businesses and not just the over-arching Bailie Group brand. This allowed for a more colourful, vibrant, and attractive site.
Once we’d settled on a more vibrant palette, we focused on sourcing more creative authenticity to the brand which made it creatively ‘pop’. In a briefing call the client mentioned the logo was inspired by Giants Causeway and the brand was originally Irish. After this was mentioned, we brought a hexagon motif into the site linking it to the Giants Causeway and the Irish heritage of the brand.
We brought the new careers site to life for the client by presenting them with wireframes which demonstrated the user interactions, screen states and information architecture. Once signed off we then created a prototype in Adobe XD before the site was sent for development.
